What I Ate: Prince Edward Island

This past July I spent about a week at my childhood summer home on Prince Edward Island, Canada. It was such a treat to go back and re-explore the place where I spent every summer of my life from age three through about seventeen (it had been a few years since I had been able to go back).

Not only was it fun to see and eat all my old favorite things (like Cows Ice Cream and preserves at the Island Preserve Company), but I had a fantastic time eating all the things that as a kid (and, okay, teenager) I had always refused to try. Malpeque Oysters and Lobster were the big “new” things. My dad the chef was incredibly proud that I have finally, finally come around in my eating habits. I even cooked the lobsters all my myself…
